Harbour View Suites opened in 2003 as part of the Harbour View Towers Complex situated on Samora Avenue between Morogoro Road and Mission Street. Featuring 49 studio rooms and two bedroom suites it has been a success story in the hotel industry. In 2005 a decision was taken to expand the property and take it to a full services hotel with restaurants, bars, and conference and leisure facilities.
Harbour View Suites Hotel is opening a stylish new destination for business and vacation travelers, as well as a gathering spot for local residents in search of an upbeat neighborhood venue to dine, mingle and relax. Architects MD Consultancy where appointed to carry out the design and Class A construction company Italframe with their 40 years experience in Tanzania were taken on as the main contractors in 2006. Taking advantage of the site being situated 9 floors up and facing the harbour the design was put in place so that all the facilities and 31 new rooms would have a view of the harbour and its shipping movements.
Interior designs were taken on board by Suzanne Watts of Studio 62, one of Kenya’s top interior designers, and along with the hotels General Manager, Andrew Wingrove, the food and beverage areas were developed into an exciting new concept for Dar es Salaam. Overlooking the harbour with panoramic windows the innovative Boodles restaurant serving New Orleans style cuisine with a Tanzanian twist, plus a vibrant Bourbon Street Bar takes you on a journey of Jazz and Blues music with the harbour lights below. The bar is designed to take you to Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans with the antique style wrought iron balconies, louvered shuttered windows and classic last century bar counter.
Adding to the existing hotel rooms are 31 new stylish guest rooms averaging 55 m2 featuring king size beds, 40 inch LCD televisions, and all rooms with balconies, each averaging over 15 m2 with views of the harbour and city. These will be amongst the top hotel rooms in the city and are already drawing favorable comments from professionals in the tourism and hotel industry.
The hotel offers a comprehensive meetings program to ensure a seamless planning process and exceptional meeting experience. Comfortable meeting rooms to meet business and leisure needs, including 2 well-appointed boardrooms. Situated at the hotel and managed by Harbour View Suites are 14 serviced offices allowing you to set up your business the day you arrive at the hotel, and missing all the traffic between office and hotel. On the 9th floor of the hotel the fitness room helps guests stay in shape alongside the swimming pool and sundeck.
The exterior of the hotel has been given a finish with Conmix Gliterite, which causes the whole building to glitter with reflective diamonds of light in the evening as the sun sets.
