I’Langa Mall Set to Open

The R580 million (US $ 79 million) retail centre’s tenancy will be a high-profile mix of retailers including national anchor tenants Pick n’ Pay, Edgars Game and Woolworths. They are complemented by other major  retailers such as Truworths, Foshini, Mr Price and Ackermans. Furthermore, situated in this mall will be the city’s first-time retailers such as Dion Wired; Hang Ten; @Home Living Space; Due South; Ana Sousa among others.

In addition to an extensive array of popular national retailers,  the mall will feature independent retailers offering specialised products and services, many which are local businesses. This essentially means that shoppers will have access to many top brands, exceptional stores and a superb comparative shopping experience.

Owned by Visagie Trust, Resilient Properties and Laeveldtrust and developed by MTB Development Company, I’Langa Mall’s carefully planned mix of tenants, fresh design superb location and easy access offers itself as the preeminent retail choice for visitors and residents in Nelspruit.

Retail in the Mpumalanga Province is in for a change. April 2010 marks the opening of Nelspruit’s I’Langa Mall which will indelibly become a landmark destination for shoppers

“ I’Langa Mall is proudly local. The idea was conceptualised in Nelspruit. It is being developed by a team of local businessmen and built with the best local knowledge and skills. We are proud that this mall for the people of Nelspruit, will offer residents the best that shopping centres can offer,” says Luan Visagie of Visagie Trust.

Design

The design of the 45, 000m2 enclosed mall is very modern, yet not clichéd and includes an open-air piazza littered with a variety of restaurants.

An exciting element of I’Langa Mall is that it will complement and enhance the retail variety in Nelspruit by introducing a number of retailers to the city for the first time.

Virtually on the doorstep of many Nelspruit residents, the mall is poised conveniently off the N4 highway within the city’s residential suburbs. It allows shoppers quick and seamless access entering or exiting the centre’s secure, underground parking. Though ‘proudly South African’, I’Langa Mall will also serve as the substantial and growing cross-border shopping market from neighbouring country, Mozambique.

Extensive traffic studies have been undertaken in regard to the construction of the mall and the owners are significantly investing in road upgrades to ensure easy access to the centre and uncongested traffic flow around  I’Langa Mall to enhance the shopping experience.
Yet, the benefits of I’Langa Mall supersede mere shopping. Its construction, is boosting the local community and economy by creating approximately 2,400 jobs during construction and  is expected that about 3,600 sustainable, long-term positions will be created as a result of its development.
