Kenya: Strathmore University expands Facilities
The university has since undertaken construction projects and renovations to expand facilities to be at par with world class institutions.
SU3 (Strathmore Phase 3)
SU3 consists of a number of academic and support services including Strathmore Business School SBS, student centre, management science, sports fields, site walling, and phase I upgrades adding up to approximately 21,000 m2 of built up area. Classroom sitting will increase to 4,350 plus seats, up from 2,350. Cafeteria sitting will be tripled.
Floor Area Schedule
Strathmore Business School (SBS) will take 10,037m2. The students' center building (SC) will consume 7,775 m2 while the management science building (MSB) will occupy 3,267m2.
Strathmore University is one of the latest institutions of higher learning to receive a charter to operate as a university having operated under a letter of Interim Authority since 2002.
Strathmore Business School
This building will house executive lecture theatres, flexible classrooms , an auditorium with seating capacity for 150people discussion rooms and admin offices among other facilities.
Students' Center Building
A new student centre will be the heart of student activity. The first of its kind in Africa it will house the definitive cafeteria and food court and will feature club rooms, shops, a business incubator level, outdoor terrace, discussion rooms and student centered administration offices among other facilities.
It will have a dramatic waterfall cooled atrium as part of the strategy to ensure that the indoor air quality is well taken care of.
Management Science Building
The management science building will be an academic building providing 2 lecture theatres and 12 classrooms nearly doubling the student capacity
