Route 21 Corporate Office Park

Known by most as a relaxed and quite suburb of Tshwane (Pretoria), Irene is beginning to feel the ripple effects of commercial development which currently includes the expansive Irene Mall and R21 Corporate Park.

The Corporate Park was the first development of a commercial nature in the area and for this, is considered a pioneering development. The multi-phase development commenced in 1999 and covers a total of about 35 hectares and consists of 140 stands with either office or industrial zoning.

The first phase of the park is now almost 95 per cent developed and includes mostly “A” grade office developments with very stylish developed office buildings. There are also small components of neat industrial and warehousing developed in the park. Fibre-optic networks will be installed within the entire development allowing tenants to be on the cusp of technological innovation.

Getting its name from its locality to the R21 highway, the site enjoys easy access to major arterial roads and its proximity to the City of Tshwane and the O.R. Tambo International Airport.

Phase two construction has recently commenced and though on a smaller scale, comprising 11 hectares (of the total 35ha), will mimic the design and composition of the previous phase. Upon completion of the entire office park, the R2billion (US $268million) office park will be a landmark development, highly recognisable in the area.

Security

Route 21 Corporate Park is an access controlled business park. All gateways are controlled and monitored by a 24-hour guardhouse facility permanently established in the park. Guarding includes roaming as well as static guards and includes guards patrolling on a quad/motor bike.

The Park itself is protected by state-of-the-art electronic surveillance equipment, as well as outer palisade fence, impenetrable perimeter security system consisting of a beam system developed by the CSIR and an inner electrical fence.
